Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, Marseille fired two times late to seize a shock lead. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
